Frozen Perigord black truffle mushrooms are excellent cooked with animal fat, butter or creme sauces. Frozen black truffles should always be cooked to enhance the flavor of the truffles. This product is the best substitute for fresh black truffles when Perigord truffles are out of season.
Use frozen black truffles in most recipes that call for fresh black truffles. Truffle ice cream can be made with frozen black truffles; however, for other recipes, it is best to cook the truffles with some form of fat, allowing the truffle flavor to permeate.
This product ships with dry ice, therefore overnight shipping is required. Put the truffles back in the freezer until you are ready to slice them. It is much easier to slice the truffles when they are frozen because once they thaw, they will be too soft to slice.
